This new concept first appeared in 2003 in North America, under the SHANKZ name. The instant popularity of this new pastime has resulted in the opening of over 75 sites.
The first SHANKZ centre opened in 2003,
Four new centres were opened in 2004,
With another 20 centres opened in 2005,
And, by the end of September, over 50 centres had been opened in 2006 alone.
The first two GOOLFY centres in EUROPE were opened at the end of October 2006, in Liège and Verviers.
Over the course of 2007, these will be followed by the opening of centres in Brussels, Charleroi, Mons and Anvers on the Belgian coast, as well as in Maastricht, Amsterdam, Den Haag and Munich.
An 18-hole course is designed over an indoor surface area of around 500m². One or several decoration (decorative) themes are selected and applied: for instance, aquatic, jungle, prehistoric, mediaeval, extra-terrestrial, racing...
The immaculately-finished 3D decor surrounds the course, while the specially-adapted sound system enhanced GOOLFY’s magical atmosphere, where the players spend an hour or so with balls and putters in a range of fluorescent colours.
GOOLFY is open to everyone. Our youngest players are just three, while the most senior golfer has just celebrated his 80th birthday! With mild weather, and nothing but fun for all the family, GOOLFY offers one of the few pastimes where parents and grandparents can have fun with the children.
